One of the largest online archives of digitized books, UVa's Electronic Text Center offers access to an E-Book Library that contains over 2,100 e- books.

Early Visions is an educational series (4 to 8 weeks), in which UVa student docents serve as mentors to at-risk students through participation in arts- related activities at the Virginia Art Museum.

Encyclopedia Virginia seeks to provide authoritative and accessible information for anyone interested in learning more about Virginia's history and culture.

The Center for Diversity in Engineering hosts high school and middle school students through private group tours, information sessions, panel discussions and hands-on activities.

UVa students create Engineering Teaching Kits that aim to excite middle school students about careers in engineering and technology. Once a kit is developed, UVa engineering students enter a classroom and teach the kit under the supervision of a middle school teacher and a graduate student from the UVa Curry School of Education. Engineering students receive feedback, make necessary alterations to the kit, and package the kit for distribution to middle school educators.

English as a Second Language is a program that puts UVA students out into the Charlottesville community to help adults, teenagers, and children learn to speak, read, and write English.

The University of Virginia's College of Arts and Sciences, Curry School of Education, and School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) offer courses for individuals interested in preparing to work with English language learners. The School of Continuing and Professional Studies offers courses that count toward the Virginia ESL add- on endorsement. Videotaped interviews of African- American leaders, conducted chiefly by Civil Rights historian Julian Bond. These oral histories focus both on the historical circumstances of individuals' lives and on the tranformational role of the civil rights movement in America.

Through Explorations in Engineering, a distance learning course designed to help high school students and adult learners gain an appreciation of engineering, U.Va. Engineering School faculty are answering the call for increased efforts in engineering education — literally.

The Exxon Mobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp is a two-week residential camp that offers innovative programs to enhance middle school students’ knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) while encouraging youth to stay in school and develop their leadership potential and citizenship skills.
