Co-sponsored by the Piedmont Council of the Arts, this workshop offers training for parents interested in bringing art prints into elementary school classrooms to promote visual literacy.

Astronomy Public Nights at McCormick Observatory Department of Astronomy

McCormick Observatory is open to the public on the first and third Friday night of each month, except holidays. Weather permitting, visitors can view celestial objects through the historic McCormick Refractor and two smaller telescopes. Visitors can also see presentations by the Astronomy Department faculty and exhibits.

See the State Arboretum of Virginia on Horseback! The Bridle Trail at Blandy Experimental Farm provides a unique way to enjoy the Arboretum grounds. Approximately 5.5 miles long, the Bridle Trail traverses farm fields, mature woodlots, and skirts a small wetland area.

Concerts are held in the outdoor Margaret Byrd Stimpson amphitheater, a beautiful setting that offers plenty of room to bring a picnic basket and spread out a blanket (no seating is offered). In case of rain, concerts move into the library. Please check the calendar of events for dates.
