The Space Science for Teachers workshop is professional development program for teachers in grades 4-9 where teachers learn hands-on and inquiry based activities to address the astronomy, space science, and nature of science components of the Virginia Standards of Learning.
If you are a teacher in Virginia for grades 4-9, you will
* Develop new knowledge and skills that will help you more effectively address the Virginia Standards of Learning related to astronomy, space science, and the nature of science
* Receive $400 in materials to help you teach astronomy and space science
* Receive 3 graduate credit hours (ASTR 574) in astronomy
* Use innovative technologies to learn the night sky and strategies to help your students experience, firsthand, the beauty and wonder of the night sky
* Learn how to use a small telescope and have the ability to borrow a telescope for use at your school
